The Gretsch G400 Synchromatic is no ordinary acoustic guitar. As you can see it doesn't look (or feel) like you're regular dreadnaught acoustic. This is a unquely stylish acoustic guitar for those with refined taste.
That's you.
The beautiful 3-piece maple neck of the guitar is complimented by the size and shape of the body, more akin to a Gretsch hollowbody electric than a regular acoustic. It's almost like an historical relic come to life. And check out those cats eye sound holes.
There is no pickup on the guitar so you can't amplify it. I'm not sure if this is a good feature or not. I think I like it because I like the idea of having a nice light acoustic without any electronic gubbins to have to deal with.
And the Gretsch G400 Synchromatic is a nic e light guitar with a great, if slightly unconventional tone. The neck is nice and smooth and easy to play. Just as easy as an electric with a nice low action.

This single-cutaway semi-hollowbody, mahogany beauty is a power version of the Duo Jet for those wishing to rock up that 'great Gretsch sound'.
Gretsch is frequentlyif not usually associated with rockabilly, the Beatles and 50's style rock 'n' roll but it's often overlooked that many heavier rockers have been smitten by Gretsch guitars.
Consider Malcolm Young from ACDC for example or Joe Perry from Aerosmith or indeed Billy Zoom.
And I think it's fair to say that this Gretsch Power Jet is aimed fair a squarely at the rockier end of the market. Our first indication of that is the 2 TV Jones Power'Tron™ pickups. I mean any pickup called a POWERTRON is not going to be a pussy cat and is more likely to roar like a wounded lion.
The looks of the Power Jet are close to the late 1950s Duo Jet with the trademark Gretsch thumbnail fretinlays, 24.6-inch scale neck, 2 toggle switches and a 'tow tone ' body with black face.
But there has to be more to it in order to appeal to heavy rockers out there and Gretsch have done just that in order to give it a genuinely modern guitar.
So, where exactly is the attitude of this guitar?
Well, as mentioned above it's primarly in the new pickups that Gretsch have added. Yup, they look just like the vintage ones but they are of course brand new TV Jones pickups which have a much greater output, a fatter tone and a bigger damn sound, especially through a high gain amp.
The bridge is a clever combination of floating and fixed which allows it to be 'Adjustomatic' and also to have each string indivually adjustable and still float without moving when pressure is exerted on it.
The Bigsby vibrato arm can be used and abused without having the whole guitar go out of tune. This is due to the locking Sperzel tuners, a welcome feature indeed. There are also locking straplocks so you can rock out without hte fear of it flying into the audience or, more embarassingly, dropping to the ground.
The pickups give it a great fat big sound
The Gretsch Power Jet is probably not for you if you're a rockabilly fan. It's for the rockers this guitar and well done Gretsch for identifiying the demand for it. It's a great combination of vintage style and modern tone.
If you're a rocker toying with the idea of buying a Gretsch then this is the guitar for you.

Gretsch 6121 Chet Atkins Solid Body with FREE shipping
This reissued Gretsch 6121 Chet Atkins solid body model is an absolute beauty.
It's modeled on the Western styled Chet Atkins guitars of the 1950s and sports stunning western decoration that any cowboy would be proud of. Walk into the bar with one of these and the room will certainly fall silent with all eyes on you.
The arched maple top has a classic Gretsch G brand at the top. I'm glad they went for a semi hollow body option - it makes a difference when non-f-hole guitars aren't made of a huge chunk of solid wood. Much nicer to hold and a lot lighter on the shoulder.
Gretsch 6121 Chet Atkins Features:
- Body Style: Single Cutaway
- Scale Length: 24.6" (625mm)
- Top: Arched Laminated Maple
- Back and Sides: Semi-Hollow Mahogany Body, 13.5" Wide, 1.75" Deep
- Neck: 1-Piece Mahogany
- Pickups: 2 Dynasonic™ Single-Coil Pickups
- Pickup Switching: 3-Position Toggle:
- Position 1. Bridge Pickup
- Position 2. Bridge and Neck Pickups
- Position 3. Neck Pickup
- Controls: Volume 1. (Neck Pickup),
- Volume 2. (Bridge Pickup),
- Master Volume,
- Master Tone
- Width At Nut: 1-11/16" (43mm)
- Fretboard: Rosewood, 12" Radius (305mm)
- Bridge: Rosewood-Based Polished Aluminum Compensated Bigsby¨
- Tailpiece: Bigsby¨ B3gbvn Vibrato Tailpiece
- Hardware: Gold-Plated
- Finish: Gloss Urethane
- No. of Frets: 22
- Machine Heads: Gold-Plated Grover¨ V98g Sta-Tite™ Die-Cast Tuners
The Gretsch 6121 also has some notable unique features. In particular the trim around the side of the body is made of leather and fastened to the body with real brass furniture tacks. yes folks, real furniture tacks.
The fingerboard and headstock binding are both artificially aged, a practice I'm not sure I like but wouldn't put me off purchasing.
The bigsby vibrato tailpiece is the vintage narrow handle model and the bridge is a polished aluminum compensated Bigsby bridge.
This is a very cool guitar with great looks and that great Gretsch sound. If you're looking for a Duo Jet but want a little bit more character and individuality then the Gretsch 6121 Chet Atkins 1955 model is a great choice.

Gretsch 6122 Country Gentlemen A single-cutaway slice of history
The Gretsch 6122 Country Gentlemen is an arch top guitar with a hollow body. Manufactured by Gretsch, these guitars are very well known for their excellent quality. With a Bigsby style vibrato arm, this guitar is extremely slim and a maple neck. The guitar includes 21 frets, two soap bar pickups along with a partial block underneath. It also comprises of two knobs for volume and tone and a pickup selector switch. It also includes a pickup guard.
Designed in close conjunction with Paul Yandell, Chet Atkins' rhythm guitarist, the G6122-1959 Country Gentleman precisely replicates the world's most famous '59 6122 model. Electric guitar features include custom handmade pickups by TV Jones, a slightly wider neck, Bigsby vibrato tailpiece with stationary arm and optional swivel arm. With a slim neck, this guitar is easy to play.
The Gretsch 6122 is great for playing Jazz and country music since it delivers all the tone and playability needed for these genres of music. The sound you get from this guitar is nothing short of fantastic. Though it is slightly on the heavier side, it is not quite as burdensome as some of the other large arch top guitars. The guitar is quite easy to hold and easy to play and pretty much comfortable to carry around with you.
The Gretsch 6122 Country Gentlemen is a phenomenal sounding guitar with clear and outstanding tones that can put many other able bodied guitars to shame. Named after Chet Atkins who actually provided the inputs required for making this guitar, it was originally perfectly suited for playing specific types of jazz with a big band and old time jazz that still carried the country elements.

The tone is quite warm without being too mid ranged and without distorting at all. This guitar is also not bad for playing other genres of music like rock and blues. Any distortion from the regular genres will make the feedback a lot different than what we need and you may end up getting a very annoying kind of feedback. So, it is suggested to stick with the softer genres as they sound really great on this guitar.
The G6122 is a real gem of a product. With its amazing looks and the comfort in playing clean tunes, this guitar is a real solid one. Buying a new G6122 can cost you a lot of money but if you are going to get a guitar as lovely as this, then it is worth any kind of money.
With its amazing features, the G6122 is worth buying as it combines the old world charm of jazz as well as other genres of music. With its excellent sound quality you can be sure of creating great tunes without having to compromise on any thing. Just play some old time Jazz tunes with the Gretsch 6122 when sitting with a group of friends. Its crystal clear tone is definitely going to bowl you over.

The Gretsch Pro Jet – Vintage Looks and Sweet Price
Gretsch has been known for its close association with different rock stars. It has always been closely associated with the Beatles.
However, over a period of time, there have been plenty of rock stars who have used this guitar over the years.
The solid body of the Pro Jet has always been a hot favorite with Malcolm Young, Billy Zoom of X and Aerosmith's for many years.
The snarling rhythmic tones honking on to the mid ranges are something that needs to be heard to be believed.
Gretsch makes a wide range of the Pro Jet models including the kind played by George Harrison, Cliff Gallup, Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps guitarist and Malcolm Young. The new Power Jet is exclusively designed for those hard rockers who want more modern tones without having to sacrifice the classic Gretsch looks.
The basic design of the power jet resembles that of the Duo Jet of the 1950s featuring thumbnail fingerboard inlays along with a 24.6 inch scale. Featuring Gretsch’s unique dual toggle and triple volume control circuit, the Gretsch Pro Jet is built for modern day rocking.
The Gretsch Pro Jet Electric Guitar is available from MusiciansFriend online store CLICK HERE>>
Gretsch has incorporated several new changes into its classic Duo Jet. It has made several improvements to the basic model to make the Pro Jet more appealing to today’s guitar players. By far the biggest difference is the pair of mini dual-coil pickups.
Though both the models look identical to the original Duo Jet from Gretsch, these guitars have more output and a much fatter tone, particularly more so when harnessed to a high amplifier. Another notable difference is that the Adjustomatic bridge has suitable individual saddles for each string and is pinned by a pair of Allen screws that allow it to stay afloat without moving under any pressure.
You also have other modern touches like Schaller strap locks and Spiegel tuners. You can also get one with a Bigsby vibrato arm - highly recommended.
The Gretsch Pro Jet has some similar characteristics to that of the Duo Jet which made it stand out amongst the many guitars available. With arched laminated maple top caps and a solid mahogany body with carved out resonance chambers, the Pro Jet is an original Gretsch invention that has captured the imagination of guitar players all over the world.
The Pro Jet’s resonance chamber makes it extremely light and allows it to deliver very impressive volume and acoustic tones when unplugged. The single piece mahogany neck has a solid and chunky feel to it. Its ebony fingerboard includes a 12 inch radius and 22 medium jumbo frets to make a very strong bending a great pleasure where ever you are.
Finally, the Gretsch pro Jet is a very good choice for those who are looking at blending the past with today. A guitar for rockers who appreciate the past. Order today and enjoy great Gretsch sound.

The Gretsch Electromatic G5122 is an ideal partner to pep-up any party. Its amazing good looks and solid tone will send your audience the right vibes. The classica sound and the amazing performance can ‘burn’ any dance floor!
The Gretsch G5122 is a hollow-body electric guitar. Principally made of maple, the top, the body and the neck are gloss finished. But the bridge and the finger board are made of traditional rose wood.
This increases the life span of the guitar and makes it more durable in any climate conditions. This means that a lot of performance can be pulled out with next to nil maintenance. The tuner heads are vintage style which gives the piece the authentic look.
The best features of this instrument are the chrome pick-ups. These are on the lines of Gretsch dual-coil humbacking. At the base is the adjustable rosewood bridge. It has B60 vibrator tailpiece, knurled strap knobs and urethane finish.
One of the best hollow bodies in its class, its playability is unbeaten. The sound is clear and loud and the tones are perfectly synchronized. You get that 'Great Gretsch Sound'. You can forget about any issues of feedback even in the case of live on-stage performances. As an additional feature the Gretsch G5122 is obtainable in a wide range of colors of which the walnut brown is the best seller.
It comes with a hard case and due to its hollow body it is always better to go for a case than a bag. The hardware is rock solid and there is no problem of loose straps or tuner buttons.
But the feature which makes this guitar most satisfying is the price of the guitar. The Gretsch Electromatic G5122 is available in the 700-800$ range which is near impossible for any other electric guitar of this quality and style.

This stylish, professional guitar features redesigned Gretsch Dual-Coil humbucking pickups, adjustable bridge, chrome-plated die-cast tuners, and wicked cool colors! It is crafted with a laminated maple body, 24-3/4" rosewood fretboard on maple neck, and sweet Gretsch appointments like G-Arrow knobs, Bigsby® B60 vibrato tailpiece, and knurled strap knobs.
If I didn't already have a nice green Gretsch (two-tone smoke green!) from 1962 I would almost certainly have a close look at the Gretsch 5120. TWANGTASTIC! guitars. I tried one out for an extended period of time the other day (thanks Dave
) and it truly was a great feeling.
The fingerboard felt smooth with the neo-classic thumbnail markers and the dual-coil pickups sounded thick and twangy.
It's a great guitar by any stretch of the imagination and I wouldn't be surprised if many people thinking about getting a 6120 go for a Gretsch G5120 instead. It really is almost as good, minus the kudos.
Don't be fooled by the relatively (for Gretsch) cheap price - this is a professional instrument.

If you're looking for a guitar with oodles and noodles of style along with a great sound, you can't go far wrong with a Gretsch G6199 Jupiter Thunderbird.
The Gretsch G6199 Billy-Bo Jupiter Thunderbird sees legends Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and Bo Diddley club together to bring you a modern day version of the seductive Gretsch Jupiter Thunderbird.
The hollowness of the guitar gives it a beautiful, deep rounded sound whilst avoiding feedback since it doesn't have any f-holes. It bears a master volume control, volume controls for each pickup (2) a tone control and the usual Gretsch 3 way switch.

Thumbnail fret markers make the beautiful rosewood fretboard shine and the mahogany neck gives a nice feel. The neck is the perfect depth, not to thick but not too thin either. Strangely, given it's uneven shape, it stands against an amp all by itself.
The hardware is chrome which personally I prefer to gold, especially with this color scheme of red top and black back and sides. And it's not as heavy as you might think, primarily because it's hollow.
It's not a cheap guitar but with the price you get Gretsch's highest quality. The neck is solid as a rock and you actually get proper strap locks for once. The finish is wonderful and the action works right out the box.
Bo Diddley originally designed the Gretsch G6199 in 1959 and this is a remake for the modern era. Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top apparently fell in love with the original so much that Gretsch created this new version with some extra bells and whistles. It has a seriously chambered mahogany body, ultra-thin laminate maple top, a one piece mahogany neck. It has 2 TV Jones PowerTron pickups on it that generate an awesome sound. It also bears a pinned Adjustomatic bridge and proper Schaller straplocks.
- TV Jones PowerTron pickups
- Chambered mahogany body
- One piece mahogany neck
- Proper Schaller Straplocks
- Thin laminate maple top
- Pinned Adjustomatic bridge
The tone of this guitar is awesome and I'd be tempted to add a Bigsby if I ever get round to buying one. It has a lovely creamy colored binding but the looks of the Gretsch G6199 is not it's biggest draw.
This is a quality instrument and lives up to the standard of the Gretsch output that we've expected for the past decade. This guitar is a keeper and if you go ahead and buy one you won't be trading it in - ever!
