You're probably here because you've heard about Jamorama, the guitar learning system. Wondering what I think of it? Well I bought it a few weeks ago and here's my review.

What Is It?

Every once in a while, something comes along that you just have to stop and take notice.

That happened to me last month when I saw Jamorama the flagship product from Rockstar Recipes for the first time. I'd never seen anything quite like it, and I said at the time that these are probably the best guitar lessons on the web.

Now there is no 'probably' about it. Rockstar have just released the new version of Jamorama, updated for 2010, and it is even better than the original!

While a lot of people 'update' their products from time to time, but change very little and improve even less, Jamorama have gone through his course with a fine-tooth comb and enhanced it to be an even more feature packed and easy to follow step by step guitar course.

Given the quality of the original, this is really quite an achievement.

What Will It Do For Me?

Jamorama is a comprehensive multimedia course that guides you through every step of becoming the guitarist you've always wanted to be. Believe me people, this course delivers.

It's designed to make your guitar learning fun and effective. There is a TON of information in there and to be honest, you won't need it all. Jamorama makes it easy to get started quickly though and you should be up a playing guitar within days.

In this course, they cover everything from how to read guitar "TAB" to how to play in a band.

Here's What You Have To Do Now

Guitar Superstars: Is it Any Good?

Reviewer: Keith Douglas

I have no doubt that anyone who purchases the Guitar Superstars learning system will find exactly what they are looking for inside.

It's a painless system that covers all you need to know and do to learn guitar really fast. And the trick is you can choose which teacher you want to study with.

It's full of the techniques a guitar player needs from creating those magical leads to playing rhythm. Also you learn how to read tabs and proper music notation too.

It works with Mac or PC and the system comes with hundreds of videos that you can play with any browser and any system.

The videos include topics such as

  • Learning chords
  • Bar chords
  • Major scales
  • Pentatonic scales
  • Fingertapping
  • The 8 and 12 bar blues
  • Power chords
  • How to play "Hey Joe"
  • . . . and many more

This is an accelerated system so if you're not interested in learning guitar quickly this probably isn't for you.

The Guitar Superstars members area has *LOTS* of lessons inside that cover everything in detail that you could possibly need to know in order to master guitar, from beginners to beyond advanced.

The 7 different guitar experts that Andy Johnson, the creator, has collected together cover guitar playing styles including:

  • acoustic
  • rock
  • classical
  • heavy metal
  • blues and jazz

One of the cool things that system offers is lessons that show you how to record songs, where to send demo tapes to and how to get a record deal.

It also teaches you how make money with your guitar playing and learn how to teach guitar online, sell your recordings online, play gigs and get paid for it all too.

Who is Andy Johnson?

Andy Johnson created this course by assembling 7 of the finest guitar teachers in New York. He has 20 years of professional guitar playing, teaching and touring with his band. It's always good to know that your teacher is someone who has done it all.

There's also some cool software for recording called The Jam Machine.

My advice is that if yo['re into rockin' out and you truly want to perfect your all round guitar skills with a choice of teachers, or even if you just want to learn guitar faster, then this is the course that you should check out.

But remember, you do have to discipline your practice and put in the time. I recommend watching only one lesson every few days and practicing 5-10 minutes per day on the skills in the lesson.

Learn Guitar Online

So you've got yourself a guitar and you're thinking about getting lessons?

These days, the web is probably one of the first stops for people looking for good guitar lessons. Makes sense right? Why pay a hefty price for a guitar teacher when you can learn guitar online and have quality lessons streamed to your bedroom at midnight?

You Have Two Options

Now, you have two options. There are websites out there that provide free lessons. Some of these are pretty good and some are ... well let's just say, not so good. It's a bit hit and miss but you might be lucky and find a good one that works for you.

Higher Quality

You're other option is obviously to pay for an online course. Some of these charge a monthly fee while others have a one off charge. The advantage of paying for a course is that you will tend to get a much higher quality of materials - video, guitar tabs, chord charts etc.

In a hurry? ==> Click HERE for my top pick of the best online guitar lessons <==

If you're going to learn guitar online I would highly recommend buying a course. You want to learn guitar properly right? So why not invest in a  professionally produced course. It will save you months of messing around trying to work stuff out.

The other great thing about a paid course is that it will have a structure to it that will make your learning so much easier and will guide you to your goal much faster than most free courses or watching random videos on YouTube.

There are some important things to watch out for though. Making sure you get the best course for your needs is most important. If you're a beginner you're going to want to get a course that includes how to play chords, how to hold your guitar,  how to tune the guitar,  how to read tabs, how to play songs and so on.

If you find a course that has all of these and more then you've come up trumps. You might want to find a program that teaches a few simple variations that will make you sound even more accomplished.

Where's the Best Place to Go?

Okay, let's have a look at the top places to go to if you want to learn guitar online. As soon as you subscribe or pay for these lessons you can start using them. There's no waiting around for DVDs to arrive in the post.

JamPlay Review – One of a Kind For Budding Guitarists

Rating: style1_4
Website Reviewed: JamPlay

Technology has created new avenues for budding guitarists who want to sharpen their talents at playing some astounding music.

Being acquainted with the basics may not be satisfactory for a person who intends mastering the knack of playing every kind of guitar be it an acoustic or an electric one.

The one stop destination for all those budding guitarists could be JamPlay that is an exclusive site that facilitates guitar learning for a variety of learners ranging from amateurs to experts.

Click Here Start Learning Guitar Online Now

JamPlay has a lot in store and you don’t have to wonder if everything on the site is going to be too theoretical to put into practice because, the step by step practical video lessons, pave the way for simultaneous live learning sessions.

From the hard core basics, a JamPlay instructor will very carefully take you through every stage and in no time you will find yourself playing some of your favorite rock numbers on your very own guitar as if you’ve mastered the art! One aspect that keeps JamPlay ahead of all its contemporaries is the high definition video quality that is simply remarkable.

You sure have had some unpleasant experiences on sites that host guitar lessons with a poor quality on the video lessons. This does put you off, especially if you’re already registered on the site, but with JamPlay you could only ask for more. Depending on the internet connection speed the site features streaming videos compatible with the various levels that give you an uninterrupted experience of your guitar lessons.

The user-friendly interface does give you the facility to skip and move ahead in case you’re curious about what else comes with the package. To practice, you could need a documentation of the chords and notes. This is exclusively available for members on the site.

For some reason if the 41 minute video learning sessions aren’t really connecting with your previous knowledge on playing the guitar, you could call the experts on a helpline number or simply chat with your learning mates on JamPlay.

This site is more or less a hub of all that you’ve ever wanted to know about playing a guitar, ranging from getting a hang of finger picking on the strings, reading tabulated notes to composing your own music. JamPlay indeed has an answer to all your questions and before you know it you could be another Jimi Hendrix or a Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Highly recommended.

Guitar Scale Mastery Review

When I was at college learning guitar, I hated learning scales.

I reckon that wasn't unusual amongst my fellow guitarists either.

Yeah there were a few Steve Vai worshipers who were addicted to scales but to me they were just boring. My exam results always came back as 'need to work harder on scales and arpeggios'.

So when I first saw the Guitar Scale Mastery membership program I wasn't exactly thrilled to get involved. But then I looked into what they were offering in the 'system' as they call it and I was blown away.

If I'd had this at college I would have aced my exams no problem.

The Guitar Scale Mastery System is broken into 5 parts:

  1. Single String Scales..
  2. Two StringScales...
  3. Three-Note-Per-String Scales...
  4. Ear Training...
  5. Applications...

I particularly like the focus on internalising the sound and feel of scales.

Is It A Scam?

No. The instructor is Craig Bassett who has  a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from Massey University in Wellington (he must have practiced harder than me) and is a passionate teacher of guitar.

There are a few things you need to know before signing up though.

This is NOT for beginners. If you're a beginner take a look at Jamorama or Learn & Master Guitar. They'll be much better for you.

This IS for intermediate players who love to practice and want to get to that next level in their musical abilities. Also, you need to know how to read tab so again, go for one of those other courses mentioned above to learn how to read tab.

I wish I'd had this course in college - as with so many of these internet based courses and software to be honest. If you're like me and have never learned scales properly and you are willing to practice I would check it out. It might just be what you need to get to expert level.

Riffmaster Pro Review

Rating: style3_5

Website Reviewed: Riffmaster Pro

When I was a teenager I would get cassette tapes of Chuck Berry and play them over and over until I could play the solos. Never quite perfected it of course.

The other way to learn complicated guitar parts in those days was to get the 45 rpm record of the song and play it at 33 rpm. This played it at about half the speed but also and half the pitch.

So when I saw Riffmaster Pro I immediately knew that it was something that I would really use.  What it does is slow down the music but keeps it at the same pitch.

It means you can really nail any guitar solo note for note without the frustration.

But not just that.

By hearing the music slower, you can actually hear the nuances of the players technique and incorporate that into your learning too. You can also loop little tricky bits so you can just keep playing them until you get them right.

Is This Some Kind Of Scam Software?

No. This is the real deal. It's a great piece of software that any guitarist should own. Remember though, at time of writing it's a Windows only program - sorry Mac people :(

Also, you need to get some DRM ripping software to play songs bought from iTunes.

It comes with some nice little bonuses too so I'd recommend you check it out. Goodness knows I would have killed for this when I was trying to learn Chuck Berry solos.

Blues Guitar Secrets Review

You've probably landed here because you're considering buying Blues Guitar Secrets 2.0. I think you're on the right tracks but read on to find out what I really think about the course.

First of all I think it's awesome that Dan Denley has put this step-by-step blues method together. I would have died for a course like this when I was 16 and obsessed with learning blues guitar.

Of course in those days we had magazines and records to learn from - not much else. And yes, there were many times when I was sitting at a party and someone said "play something on the guitar!" leaving me red faced and shamed that I couldn't actually think of anything to play.

So the systematic approach that Blues Guitar Secrets takes to teach you from scratch is something that I would highly recommend you seriously consider.

If you're into blues, I think you'll love it.

You also get 29 full band jam tracks of live musicians records in a real studio. No computers. i wouldn't expect any less these days frankly.

There's also a 185 page book with transcriptions of all the lessons so you can go through them at your own pace and improve your music reading skills at the same time.

There are also 3 cool bonuses which he gives you, the coolest of all i think is the progress tracker.

I've found that one of the hardest thing when learning new stuff (and teaching new stuff) is to stay motivated. The progress tracker is a physical chart that you get with the course and it's not something I've seen with any other guitar course. A great idea (especially for 'list nerds' like me).

Look, if you're into blues you should check this course out. Yeah, Dan Denley ain't no Stevie Ray Vaughan. He isn't even a local star or outstanding player.

But he knows how to teach.

And that's what you want. Hell you can watch as much Stevie Ray on YouTube as
you want but he can't teach you how to play it. That's why you should check out Blues Guitar Secrets.
