Legacy Learning, creators of the wonderful Learn and Master Guitar have released a new blues guitar product, Learn and Master Blues Guitar.
Once again I find myself wishing the internet was around when I was learning guitar. If like me you're dead keen on playing blues then I think this course will really impress you.
Warning!
However, just in case you're looking for a course that will teach early acoustic blues like Mississippi John Hurt etc. then this is not the course for you.
This course is more for people looking to play electric blues in the mold of players such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, BB King and Eric Clapton.
The meat and potatoes of the course is a set of 6 fully-produced DVDs. These are produced to a high level and look and sound great. This is a physical product so you're not tied to learning in front of your computer.
Along with the 6 DVDs you get backing tracks played by a real live band which are just fantastic - top session players on all of them. And you get interviews with top blues guitarists which I think will really help you focus on how to apporach blues playing.
A System
But the best thing about this course is that it's a system. I know that I spent months and months trying to piece together licks and riffs to start sounding any good. But this course will take you by the hand and steer you through everything you need to know step-by-step to get to a decent standard of playing.
Ear Training
My favorite part of this course is the ear training you get. It's essential as a guitarist to have a good ear because when you get in to the studio or up on stage (and you will one day, trust me) then you need to rely on you ear to guide you - there won't be any fancy DVDs for you to follow on stage.
That's why instructor Steve Krenz has added “Hearing the Blues” ear training exercises to each session. Probably the best thing in the course.
I think this is a great new release and should be in any truly serious guitarists learning collection. It will help you get from beginner to playing the blues with real confidence.
If you want to save months of struggling to get to grips with this kind of blues then this course is for you.
